Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Kapsee (operated by Kapsee, India) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use https://kapsee.in and related services. It is intended to align with applicable Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), where it applies.

1. Who we are

Controller / operator: Kapsee trading as Kapsee. Contact: support@kapsee.in.

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: email address, password hash (or Google account ID if you sign in with Google), referral codes, plan and credit balances.
  • Media & captions: files you upload (video/audio), extracted audio, transcripts, SRT exports, glossaries, and caption style settings.
  • Payments: Razorpay payment IDs, order IDs, amounts, and prepaid pack or pay-per-reel type. We do not store full card numbers.
  • Technical & usage: IP address (for security/rate limits), device/browser type, pages viewed, and job status events. Optional analytics only if you accept cookies (see §6).
  • Support: messages you send to our support email.

3. Why we use your data

  • Provide transcription, editing, export, and account features you request.
  • Authenticate you, prevent fraud/abuse, and enforce plan limits.
  • Process payments and issue invoices/receipts via Razorpay.
  • Send transactional email (verification, password reset, captions ready).
  • Improve reliability and product quality (with analytics only if consented).
  • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests.

4. Legal bases / consent

We process account and service data because it is necessary to provide the service you request. Marketing emails (if any) require separate consent. Optional analytics cookies run only after you choose Yes, allow on our consent banner. Choosing No thanks stores that preference so we do not load analytics.

5. Sharing & subprocessors

We share data only as needed with:

  • Hosting & delivery: Vercel (website), AWS / our API host, Cloudflare R2 (file storage).
  • Speech & language processing providers used to generate captions.
  • Payments: Razorpay.
  • Email delivery: Brevo (or another transactional email provider we configure).
  • Google: if you use Google Sign-In (identity verification).
  • Error monitoring: Sentry (when enabled) — crash reports and performance traces; no payment card data.

We do not sell your personal data.

6. Cookies & analytics

Essential cookies/local storage keep you logged in and remember security preferences. Optional analytics (Vercel Web Analytics + Speed Insights) measure aggregated traffic, Core Web Vitals, and product events such as signup or purchase — loaded only if you accept. Your choice is saved in browser localStorage (kapsee_consent_v1) and a first-party cookie (kapsee_consent) for up to 12 months. Clear site data or contact us to reset. Error monitoring may capture technical stack traces from crashes to help us fix bugs; session replay (if enabled) masks text and media.

7. Retention

  • Uploaded media / working audio: removed after processing when possible (target about 24 hours; may remain longer for retries, backups, or dispute review).
  • Transcripts, captions, and account settings: until you delete them or close your account.
  • Payment records: as required for accounting and dispute resolution.
  • Security logs: short periods needed to fight abuse.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, access controls, and password hashing. No method is 100% secure; protect your password and notify us of suspected account compromise.

9. Your rights

Subject to Indian law, you may request access, correction, erasure, or a copy of your personal data, and withdraw consent where processing is consent-based (for example analytics). Email support@kapsee.in. We aim to respond within 7 business days.

10. Children

Kapsee is not directed at children under 18. If you believe a minor created an account without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

Some subprocessors may process data outside India. We use providers with appropriate safeguards to the extent required for the service.

12. Changes

We may update this Policy and will revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you acknowledge the updated Policy.
